About the Teacher
I think all parents and maybe some of my students would like to get to know me a little better. So this section is all about what lead me to Star International Academy and what I'm involved in here at Star.
My story in education begins with me not being the most focused as most youth are today. I was unsure of what I wanted to do but needed structure and a way to pay for my schooling. In 2006 I signed an eight year contract with the United States Navy. I left for boot camp on July 25th, 2006. My first permanent duty station was VFA-105 in NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia. I spent the remainder of my five years on active duty in this squadron. I completed two tours to the middle east and my obligation to the military and decided that it was time to move on. I had generated a lot of respect and passion for teaching the younger sailors how to take over my job after I would be gone. I have always have a deep love for history and a new found appreciation for teaching, I choose to combine them. While enlisted I knew that this would be a career path for me even if I choose to stay for a full military career. I began schooling while I was enlisted in the Navy and have continued those distance education courses at Eastern Michigan University. In addition to my schooling I've become more involved in my charity organization of Optimist International, a not-for-profit organization designed to benefit youth in the community. This charity was not only a natural fit for me, but also a family legacy. The other sections of this weebly will explain more about me and what I've done or accomplished thus far in life and goals for my future.
